ink·ling

noun - a slight knowledge or suspicion; a hint.

A Mere Inkling is an ongoing personal project involving the study of imaginary creatures, who have been found to fill their days with involvement in small but extraordinary natural occurrences, such as the rustling of leaves and the chiming of wind chimes on hardly breezy days, the amplification of small, but charming noises on otherwise quite walks, the bouncing of hues from one surface onto the unadorned exterior of another, and many others that have yet to be recorded. I have come to refer to these creatures as Inklings, as there are slight suspicions and/or hints uncovered, in what would otherwise be mundane moments, that point to their presence.

I have discovered inklings to be illusive, yet calm creatures. And what I initially believed to be the extent of their appearances and occurrences have come to be proven wrong, through the recognition of new creatures that I have come to categorize into the Inkling family.

This project revolves around relishing in the banality of what surrounds us, and being open to astonishment brought about by daily moments. The creatures studied act to bring attention and emphasis to small moments of wonder and joy often forgotten or overlooked as the days linger on.
